This map/drawing dated 1791 from the Markree Papers of the Cooper Estate (in National Library of Ireland) was provided by K. Whelan courtesy of A.Horner.
M.Lang has identified the probable location – using minutes from the Sligo Borough (1762) mentioned in Wood-Martin's history of Sligo, Pigot's Commerical Directory of Sligo Town (1824) – as to behind the terrace of houses to the right of the former Methodist church in this photograph from National Inventory of Architectural Heritage

This is in Collooney, not Sligo Town. Tradition of handball in Collooney continues to this day with a very fine 40x20 and 60x30 alley in the town
Correction to previous comment. Yes, this drawing appears in the Markree Estate (Collooney) portfolio of maps held by National Library of Ireland, but it is definitely in Sligo Town, as noted on the drawing (not visible here). This alley was mentioned in minutes of Sligo Borough in 1762. It was owned by Clark family.
